What Is Sauna Wrap?

Sauna Wrap Procedure

Consultation

Before using a sauna wrap, a consultation is conducted to determine the suitable treatment. This step typically involves reviewing medical history, assessing skin sensitivity, and discussing any conditions that can be affected by infrared heat exposure. Individuals with circulatory issues, pregnancy, or specific medical problems may be advised to avoid the treatment.

Preparation

We encourage drinking plenty of water before the session to prevent dehydration due to sweating. Clients should also avoid heavy meals, limit caffeine and alcohol intake, and refrain from using lotions or oils that may interfere with sweating. Loose, moisture-wicking clothing might be recommended to enhance comfort and effectiveness. Our specialists provide disposable wraps or towels to absorb sweat. The device is preheated to the desired temperature, typically between 110°F and 160°F, depending on individual tolerance and goals.

Sauna Wrap Application

The patient lies on a treatment table or recliner while the sauna blanket is securely wrapped around the body. The device has infrared-emitting layers that enclose the torso and limbs while exposing the head. The heat gradually increases, penetrating deep into tissues to promote sweating and relaxation. Sessions generally last between 30 and 60 minutes, with treatment adjustments made as needed.

Heat Therapy Session

As infrared heat is absorbed, body temperature rises, triggering perspiration and potential benefits, such as muscle relaxation, improved circulation, and temporary calorie burning. The patient remains still throughout the session, allowing the warmth to work evenly across the body. Some treatments include additional elements, such as chromotherapy (light therapy) or guided relaxation techniques.

Completion and Cooling Down

At the end of the session, the sauna wrap is carefully removed, and excess sweat is wiped away. A brief cool-down period allows the body to regulate temperature and prevent dizziness. Hydration is encouraged to replenish fluids lost through sweating. Our clients can also receive a light massage or skin care application to complement the effects of the treatment.
